I start the project with a Kickoff Workshop.
Possible Participants : Business Analyst, Client's Senior Stakeholders, Technical Architect/s, On-the-Ground Stakeholders, Program Manager, Product Owner, Engineering Director
Aim of this workshop is to initiate the creation of Lean Canvas and get the all the stakeholders on the same page with expectations.
The above template is quite detailed and takes multiple sessions to finalize it as a consultant. But this allows to get the complete Lay of the Land and becomes a North Star for the complete team. 
Since this workshop does have senior stakeholders which most of the time are VP level, Director level, organizing it immediately to block their time becomes crucial. 
Dependent on the size of project/ team involved, lean canvas elements are captured on priority basis and following workshops are scheduled with subgroup of stakeholders with transperancy and update to complete group.
Next step is to introduce Design Thinking to the team.
